Focused on ease of use, JRun 3.0 gives you a complete J2EE implementation based on a clean design that avoids the overhead of legacy technologies and a highly modular architecture that lets you use only the components you need. It supports the latest Java Server Pages (JSP) and servlet specifications. JRun 3.0 offers advanced features, including support for JavaScript as the JSP server-side scripting language, which can be written with JRun Studio's visual JSP development tools (licensed separately). JRun also includes an extensible JSP custom tag library for calling J2EE methods, such as databases queries, JNDI resource look-ups, XML transformations, and sending/receiving e-mail. JRun Server 3.0 features a fully compliant Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) server. The EJB server is built on a Java-based, XA-compliant transaction server that uses a distributed two-phase commit to support distributed transactions across multiple servers, resource managers, and heterogeneous databases. In addition, JRun includes a Java Messaging Service (JMS) server for building highly reliable Internet business systems. JRun 3.0 supports the latest JSP 1.1 and Java Servlet API 2.2 specifications for delivering Web applications. It also offers a variety of advanced features for delivering Internet business systems, including Java or JavaScript as a server-side JSP scripting language, an extensible JRun custom tag library, and an optional server that manages JDBC connection pooling. JRun 3.0 includes a high-performance Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) server for deploying enterprise business logic in a scalable, robust, transacted environment. The JRun 3.0 EJB server is built from the ground up in Java and fully implements the EJB 1.1 specification while leveraging the server-specific enhancements of Java 2 (JDK 1.2). JRun 3.0 also includes a full transaction server for managing enterprise-class transactions. The JRun 3.0 transaction capabilities implement the Java Transaction API (JTA 1.0), with an XA-compliant transaction server that supports two-phase commit and multidatabase transactions. Also included is a complete messaging server for deploying enterprise applications with full support for distributed messaging and message-oriented middleware (MOM) application architectures. The JRun 3.0 messaging server fully implements the Java Message Service (JMS 1.0) specification with a Java-based messaging server built from the ground up to specification.
